Tennessee star Hendon Hooker ruled out of South Carolina game due to possible injury

The Tennessee Volunteers watched their season flash before their eyes.

Shaping up as a crushing defeat for unranked South Carolina,

The fifth-place Vols would also have lost quarterback Hendon Hooker to a serious knee injury.

The Tennessee star's leg appeared to come out from under him as he threw a pitch and attempted to cut upfield.

He immediately moaned in pain before being later carried off the field with the help of the training staff.

Fans couldn't help but feel for the volunteers and their signal-callers on social media.

"Absolutely disappointed for Handon Hooker," tweeted Pat McAfee.

Zack Soskin said, "Absolutely heartbroken for Handon Hooker." "Football is a cruel game, tomorrow is never promised,

No one should complain about every dollar the athletes get. Finally, make sure there is serious injury and loss of value insurance."

David Pollack commented, "Handon Hooker is pure class and not impossible." "The way he went down and it was a non-contact injury, I'm afraid it's an ACL. Man that stinks."

Albert Breyer of MMQB commented, "Whatever happened to Hendon Hooker looked real, real bad.

"Prayers for Hendon Hooker," tweeted Aaron Murray. Best of luck to you, number 5.
